Love is hard...duh..

I was told that science and technology one day could explain everything. I shudder if this would happen. I still love the myth and the mystery of life.

It would be a boring world if everything could be explained rationally. Life is about romance and mystery. Remember when we were all 12 – love was such a mystery.

Obviously technology has robbed all the mystery of love. Long time ago, I used to write love letters on examination pad. Some I dropped at 'that girl's' desk and some were given to the ‘third party’- usually her best friend. Yes, these tactics are just brilliant for shy lovers like me. I was never the "now generation" but there was a "magical feeling" receiving letter from the girl you admire.

Nowadays, love letter has been taken away by cell phone- or should I say SMS?- and facebook of course. Blackberry messenger and YM has gaining popularity, too. We are all connected from house to hostel, to university , to McD– almost everywhere and almost 24 hours. What a bore. How unromantic.

Today, everything is wired. We are all connected. No more postcards. I knew a guy, on his way to a rendezvous, keeps on texting his girlfriend from every rest area on Plus Highway. I wonder whether his girlfriend is a CCTV or a normal human being. Admittedly the magic of a rendezvous is all gone. The cell phone/ blackberry has taken away surprises knocking at our door.

More and more people are falling in love – from anyone to someone and to everyone. Scientific advancement has turned lovers mad. The desire to settle quicker and to couple faster has been the neomantra. The romance of loving is no longer there. Everything needs to be quicker and faster.

Please put pause on one’s life screen. Take note: love is not about possessing. Love is not about texting. Love is about the journey because over there will always be over there.

And yes, I miss love letter.
